With our range of language learning products that focuses on teaching Asian languages, we cover also some of the least developed countries in the world. Early on in our young company, it was clear for us that we also want to contribute our part to help these countries growing. So we sat down together and thought about how we can give something back to these countries. So we were considering to donate a fixed percentage of our sales to NGOs operating in these countries but then we thought that everybody could make these donations and that we would like to focus on something that we can bring some value added as a company as well.
So we got the idea to develop an English Language Learning Software -especially for children in these countries- and to give that software away for free to anybody.
Here we can really use our resources and knowledge to develop something that would benefit underprivileged children in these countries. This especially developed software for these countries will not be for sale, never be for sale, can be copied freely and used by anybody.
Our first target countries will be Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. We will localize our software to these countries, which means that the students in Vietnam will have the user interface and translations of the English course in their native language Vietnamese. This makes our version pretty unique because we will probably be –in some countries- the only available software to learn English that offers translations into the native language.
The course will be quite comprehensive and probably cover the first 2-3 years of high school instructions of English.
As we mentioned above, the course will be absolutely free to use and obviously we would like to reach as many people as possible. We are not only targeting individuals in these countries but also schools and other NGOs. Many schools in these countries have implemented the Linux operating system and therefore I am glad to let you know that –besides Windows and Mac- we also support Linux.
We expect to have this version available latest by end of 2009 and to give you a first impression on how the software looks like, we will soon post some screenshots (for our English course for Thai Students) here.

Hi I would like to help beta test your english software, I have thai friend who is fluent in english (taught herself english and PC skillS and is online daily) and with nephews and nieces and neigbours of primary and high school age, who are learning english at school. It would be great to have software to help teach them as learning from books is boring, and hearing the words correctly would encourage them to speak it more

English for Thais will actually be the first language that we produce in this series. We are just in the process to select (British) English Speakers and then do the recording. Parallely we are just translating the user interface into the Thai language.
We will probably be completed by year end and then I will email you with the download site for this free language learning package.
